Robin said (from this post):

A new Dutch 'speech submitter' tried to playback the prompts he recorded using the Java submission app. He got this error:

unable to open the line: javax.sound.sampled.LineUnavailableException: Audio Device Unavailable

Hi Robin,

Can he use Audacity (record and playback) on the same computer?  I just want to make sure it is not hardware related.

I can replicate the same error when I try to play back a recording on the SpeechSubmission app, while playing music on my PC (i.e. running Rythmbox).   Ask the user to make sure they close any programs that might use audio his computer (music, Audacity, VoIP, etc.) before going to the read page on the VoxForge site.

If this still occurs after you have turned the other music/audio programs off, you might need to close all instances of your browser to clear this up.
