ESV.org is the website for the English Standard Bible.  You can go to a chapter of this bible (eg http://www.gnpcb.org/esv/search/?q=Genesis+1 ) and click on the "Listen" link.  Each word is then read by a professional narrator, and the text (in context) is displayed on the screen.

So what you have is a very easy to use resource.  There are even 3 different narrators to use.  The audio defaults to flash, but you can also get it in MP3.

You should be able to script this up to import the audio and associated text.

HI Adam,

>ESV.org is the website for the English Standard Bible.

Thanks for the suggestion of a new source of good quality speech audio for VoxForge.

Unfortunately, all speech on the ESV site seems to be Copyrighted.  Since we want to create *GPL* acoustic models, we need to be able to freely re-distribute the "source" speech used to create these acoustic models. Therefore, we cannot use these audio files in the VoxForge corpus, since Copyright laws would prevent us from distributing them, or any derivative works made therefrom (like acoustic models...).

However, if anyone is working on creating a speech corpus to create acoustic models for their own personal use, this would seem to be a good place to get good quality transcribed audio.

Thanks for letting us know about it,

Ken
