Perhaps my last update fixed things ... perhaps something else ... but I'm now able to give commands such as file, view (sometimes understood as "new") etc.

I didn't make any changes that I'm aware of! Weird isn't it. Still no perfection, but lots better.
As soon as there's an acoustic model based on the VoxForge-corpus I'd love to hear about it.
